Ace...... My favorite boutique hotel ever!

My favorite place in Palm Springs hands down would be a weekend trip to the Ace Hotel & Swim Club. Who in their right mind would ever think about bearing 100 + heat in the desert just for a little holiday weekend in Palm Springs? I would! True the Coachella Valley exudes that sleepy retirement boring run of the mill life style. Tons of golf courses not to mention the abundance of the redundant food chain restaurants. BUT, things changed back in February of 2008 when the ACE a boutique hotel opened up and thank god brought some other reasonings to come out to the desert other than to Modernism Week and the Coachella Music and Arts fest. Anyhoo.... if you have never been to the ACE think of it as a beautiful explosion. A nice expansive collection of beautiful eclectic people. If you want some quiet get-a-way perhaps the week days would be better.

 ~Here are a few reasons why I ♥ the Ace~

Sunday pool Parties with DJ's spinning vinyl.  Monday nights "Sissy Bingo" in the Amigo Room (bar) with Linda is amazing. Amigo Room is what I like to say is the Ace's version of some of my favorite dive-y bars. Think The Chalet (when it was open), Lola Gaspar, Cha Cha, Footsie's, and the bar at Malo all wrapped into one. (try Tinto de Verano and Figa) Kings Highway resturant.. and Executive Chief Craig's amazing skills!
The rooms.. minimal but amazing. The record player is a plus along with the selection of records in the room
to be played and or bought..

I always get a little sad when leaving the Ace.. There really is not a reason to leave the grounds when there. However there is some cool things to do like hiking in the Indian Canyons when the weather is good, a visit to the Arial Tramway, Cabot's Pueblo Museum.. etc etc...

Alas.. Bottomless Mimosas for $3.95 at Pinocchio in the Desert..
Here is a little Yelp list of things I dig about the Coachella Valley
